Talisker 10 year old single malt is a classic Island whisky from the Isle of Skye. Aged for a minimum of 10 years in American oak casks, this welcome member of Diageo's Classic Malts series has been recognised numerous times for its excellence. Immensely satisfying stuff, with whiffs of warm peat blending with coastal air, balanced by orchard fruit and juicy barley. A spectacular after dinner dram.
It was an Editor's Choice at Whisky Magazine, a gold medal winner at the San Francisco World Spirits Competition 2017 and was awarded 'Best Islands Single Malt' at the 2017 World Whiskies Awards.
A fresh and fragrant nose. Through thick, pungent smoke comes sweet pear and apple peels, with pinches of maritime salt from kippers, seaweed.
It's a bonfire of peat crackling with black pepper, with a touch of brine and dry barley. A welcome delivery of orchard fruit provides a delicate and beautiful balance.
In a long finish, bonfire embers toast malt and crystallise a sugary underlay.
Talisker 10 has always been one of my favorite drams. Had to come back to tell everyone that the talisker we once knew is gone? if I had to guess they filled half the bottle with water. This is mild, no spice, no salt, no nothing!! Why did they ruin a perfect whisky. So sad. Won't be buying this anymore. And neither should you.
What have they done???! Even Skye tastes and smells better than this! A premium top notch sprit has been totally wrecked and is not even in the same galaxy as it's earlier self!
Drinkable, but that’s about it. I did a side by side with the old bottling, and the difference is day and night. It’s lost it’s character completely.
I like it more, as I've matured. A little cold water/ice cube and you have a manly treat. Ardbeg is still my fav, but this packs a nice peppery punch. Surprisingly low price in South Africa. This one is three to four times as much in the USA.
I've read some of the recent reviews poo-pooing this whisky a bit. I have to say that I disagree. I love this whisky. So easy to drink and with a lovely smokey lingering aftertaste. I'm relatively new to the single malt world but nonetheless I really enjoyed this. Thoroughly recommended.
