25 year old single malt from Campbeltown's excellent Springbank distillery, independently bottled by That Boutique-y Whisky Company. Neil and Joel off of World's Best Spirits keep working that Porteus mill, and they won't stop until they can no longer see any husks! Or until the record on the turntable finishes... A turntable is a normal feature of a Porteus mill, right?
Batch 14 is a release of 437 bottles.
‘That Boutique-y Whisky Company’ bottles single malts, single grains and bourbons from a variety of renowned distilleries as well as producing award-winning blended malts and blends. These whiskies are adorned with cultish graphic novel-style labels.
Zesty lime marmalade with ginger, heather honey and old apples at first, with plenty of funky damp earth and malt. Creamy hazelnut, leather smokiness and flickers of ginger and nutmeg spice emerge, with wet rocks and a little tobacco leaf.
Woodsmoke snakes through jammy dark fruits, sweet barley and bitter bark. An array of interesting notes then push through: cured ham, Christmas cake spice, rancio, crystallised citrus peels and mint chocolate ice cream.
Dry and earthy.
A Scotch that could only come from Springbank. Glorious.
