We've got our hands on an absolutely fantastic Springbank single malt to bottle up for our very own Single Cask Series! This one was distilled by in Campbeltown all the way back in May 1998 and set aside to aged in a first-fill sherry hogshead for 20 years. After two decades of rest, the whisky was bottled without chill-filtration or additional colouring, and we're incredibly proud of it, we'll have you know!
Gingerbread, ash and waxy orange peel, then cinder toffee, toasted almond, earthy vanilla and a little struck flint. Heather honey, red berries and damp oak emerge underneath, with a note of apple pie with a dusting of cinnamon spice.
The oak becomes charred and bitter, while cranberries, nutmeg and sweet tobacco add a pleasant drying element. Big, juicy black fruit notes then emerge to lift the palate with peppercorn, salted caramel and a touch of Springbank funk in support.
Honey-glazed, gamey meat, spent fireworks and a little marmalade.
