Springbank
Scotland
Single Malt
A bottle of the well-established mauve-packaged 18 Year Old Springbank. The multi-award-winning Campbeltown single malt has been matured in ex-bourbon casks, so expect a big, coastal, oily flavour from this one.
Toasted bananas, honey and bakewell tarts with coastal hints. Quite oily.
Big, spicy and gutsy, with notes of chilli, pine, citrus, aniseed and rich fruits.
Long, salty, chocolate caramels with hints of smoky fruit.
Springbank 10 is my favourite whisky so I had high hopes for this, but must admit I was underwhelmed. With a side by side comparison I still preferred the 10! I know taste is subjective, but when you're paying more than twice the price you expect a smoothneess and complexity from an 18 year old that should far surpass a 10 - maybe that shows how good the 10 really is?! If I have the money a Talisker 18 is better value and tastier in my opinion. (review based on an August 2020 bottling)
Just gorgeous.
Very good
Fantastic; smooth slightly peaty with a warm finish ;
Excellent
