Single Malt
A hotly anticipated release from the Springbank distillery in Campbeltown, this 17 year old single malt Scotch whisky has been 100% matured in Sherry oak casks and bottled at cask strength. This has resulted in a full-bodied flavour profile rich in dark coffee, Christmas cake and gingerbread, with subtle whiffs of light Springbank peat wafting through. It was unveiled in early 2015 - 9,120 bottles were released.

Nose- Heather, malt, dried fruits, citrus, with an Apple note. Apricot, fig and slightly salt air note. Palate was smoke, peat up front followed quickly with black pepper then softened to cinnamon, honey sweetness, rich raisin and then chocolate and cocoa. Citrus alternates with iodine, dried apples and dried figs. Finishing with a salt note and allspice. More smoky embers and then a very lengthy drying remembrance. Wonderful dram a needs a good cheese pairing.
Nose- Peat note is quick but enticing, fresh cherry, very fruity and subtle. Palate- Peat appears at the front and is very bold. followed quickly by cinnamon, nutmeg, and a pepper note. very sweet with a creamy ginger. Finish- Long and reoccurring spice, pepper, and peat for a wonderful single malt. Very appropriate for the Christmas Season.
Typical Springbank to make such wonders. The 17 years old Springer is powerful, tasteful, full bodied with dark chocolate notes, little peat on the nose.....delightful. 89/100
