Springbank

Single Malt
Fans of heavily peated single malts are always happy when Longrow is in town! Matured in a combo of bourbon and sherry casks, this double distilled expression is a classic offering from Campeltown's Springbank distillery.
Salt and a leathery smokiness come to the fore in a maritime combination, like a Harbourmaster's Jacket.
Light and sweet with notes of green grapes and rhubarb, a great contrast to the nose. Then comes a big blast of smoke.
That salty smokiness returns from the nose providing a deeply satisfying ending.
A great entry-level offering from Longrow perfect for Islay fans looking for something a bit different.
Longrow Peated is a beautiful whisky. It has a lovely balance between peat smoke and rich, rounded flavours and mouthfeel. Of course Islay produces great peated whiskies but this is well worthy of being considered as their equal.
Smoky, salty, sweetness. Got it all and it's definitely a nice whisky, but £50......! Not sure.
Tried a dram. Never really had peated whiskey before. A unique taste and the smokiness surprisingly doesn't over power. Very tempted to buy, if back in stock and the price doesn't rise.
One of the best whiskies I have ever tasted. The peat is perfectly balanced at all stages. On the palate you can control the sensations by swirling it around in different ways. The finish is astonishing. It leaves a sticky dry feeling under your tongue just like a top quality air cured ham. Unlike some of its Islay competitors, it does not leave you with smoke for hours to come.
Very young. Phenol lovers may like it but very medicinal for more palate. Not sure I would describe it as sweet, more like bitter almost tangy. Would I buy I again? Ehh, probably not, not it’s not terrible either.
