Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt

Nose: There is a lot going on here; heather, plums and peach, quite dry but with hints of honey. There's a slight waxy note too with a little bit of leather.

Palate: Very soft, with caramelised fruit and raisins and cassis. The spices include cinnamon and vanilla and there's some oaky dryness to balance the honey. A subtle wood smoke and a hint of the sea.

Finish: Very long with hints of aniseed and raisin sweetness.

Overall: Wow. there's so much to take in... this is a whisky worth spending serious time with.

OMG!!!!
Best sipping drink I ever had. It's been decades because of the rarity and cost of Springbank 21 since then. I'd have a case if I could afford it. I bought the bottle due to reviews in Decanter magazine where they chose it in consecutive years as the best sipping drink over much costlier choices including hallowed cognacs, etc. It was like a combination of the best whisky and the best cognac. It had smoothness and elegance and yet power without great bite, just enough, and complexity up the wazoo as if it needed a book chapter to describe all the tastes going on. If there's something better OMG!

Meh at best
I found this way too sweet and I love bourbons and sherry bombed scotch. The sweetness was just off putting to me. Not a bad whisky but not something Id buy again

This stuff is awful
Please don't buy this , get a Glenfiddich 12 yr old instead, its not worth the money. If you see this one don't waste your money

Elegant
Yeah, the flat and boring guy either got an oxidized bottle (any wet newspaper in there, bub?) or he should stick with his cheaper drams - seem to make him perfectly happy.

While I wish they'd re-release a 21yr cask strength version again, this superb whisky will just have to do.

For me, there's no reason to climb up to the 25yr: the 21yr has a more enjoyable mid-palate, and a finish for days.

Grabbed 3 bottles of this.

Very average. Nose was a massive disappointment. I had read so many positive reviews about this being 'the best springbank 21 for years', yet to me, it was no better than a 12 year old £60 Edrador. Sorry, much better value out there for this quality. Not bad, just not worth £200.

Wonderful!
The 'flat and boring' cannot be from the 2018-release of this. It's simply superb, possibly the best Sprinkbank 21 for the last few decades. Maybe he had a bad bottle? Maybe he's just a complete idiot.

Amazing!
One of the best I’ve ever tasted. I thought the 15 year old springbank was stunning but this dram is on another level. One of my all time favourites.

Great great granddad’s leather cartridge case
I concur with the chaps’ review, apart from a) that the taste doesn’t run back down the palate as you’d expect from a truly good whisky, and b) that it has that nice dungeon-like hint of great great granddad’s leather cartridge case you tend to get in the truly old whiskies.

Unexplainable
At this level it's just a matter of opinion. It has been my favorite for the last 20 years.
