Springbank 21 Year Old Bottling Note

Springbank 21 Year Old has become something of a legend among whisky lovers and with good reason. It's a spectacular dram that offers unbelievable complexity.

Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt

Nose: There is a lot going on here; heather, plums and peach, quite dry but with hints of honey. There's a slight waxy note too with a little bit of leather.

Palate: Very soft, with caramelised fruit and raisins and cassis. The spices include cinnamon and vanilla and there's some oaky dryness to balance the honey. A subtle wood smoke and a hint of the sea.

Finish: Very long with hints of aniseed and raisin sweetness.

Overall: Wow. there's so much to take in... this is a whisky worth spending serious time with.

Springbank 21 Year Old Reviews

Perfect

I taste apples as well ... truly beautiful.

Amazing!

One of the best I’ve ever tasted. I thought the 15 year old springbank was stunning but this dram is on another level. One of my all time favourites.

Great great granddad’s leather cartridge case

I concur with the chaps’ review, apart from a) that the taste doesn’t run back down the palate as you’d expect from a truly good whisky, and b) that it has that nice dungeon-like hint of great great granddad’s leather cartridge case you tend to get in the truly old whiskies.

Unexplainable

At this level it's just a matter of opinion. It has been my favorite for the last 20 years.

It is everything a high end scotch should be

One of the best of all-time. Relatively unknown.

One of the best

I first tried this over 25 years ago, and have been smitten ever since.

Flat and boring

Can a whisky "get cork"? Because that's the foremost association I get from my bottle! If the whisky doesn't have that excuse, it is flat and boring. The nose is just wooden. The palate is uninspiring and evaporates quickly. The finish is awful. I can't wait to get something else.
You can get drunk with this stuff if you have nothing else - and that desire. Otherwise, I am not impressed.

Great stuff

I owned a bottle about 15 years ago. We finished it, and I still miss it.
