Green Spot is a fabulous single pot still whiskey and much loved by the critics. This Irish whiskey has come far from the days when it was only sold in Mitchell's grocer shop in the heart of Dublin, though its flavour profile is still just as robust. The whiskey has matured in a combination of first and second fill bourbon casks as well as sherry casks.
Hints of peppermint, malt, sweet barley, sugary porridge, creamy vanilla, papaya and citrus.
Spicy and soft, gentle bourbon oak, green woods, menthol, potpourri.
Creamy, long finish, vanilla.
so very smooth, had a oban scotch after , liked the Green Spot better,,,,,,,,,,,,will not wait till next St paddies day to drink more
Almost a honey liqueur feel but not the taste
This goes down very easily. It is buttery, creamy and rich in mouth. It is also a bit sweet for my palate. (For reference, my favorites are Midleton Very Rare, Red Breast and more recently Writers Tears.
Although curious I put off trying this for a long time because some of the tasting notes sounded a bit love it or hate it. Big mistake. It's stunning and utterly unique. Really unusual and surprising but in brilliant and inexplicable ways. Apples on the nose, sure - and fantastic, but the taste is a lot maltier than I was expecting. It's not often a whiskey makes me go wow at every sip.
Lovely whisky I can say goodbye to reality 4 a while drinking green spot sitting in Nears in Dublin having a few shots
