An impressively rich single malt whisky from the Spirit of Hven distillery in Sweden, named after the renowned astronomer Tycho Brahe and the supernova he discovered back in 1572. Interestingly enough, Brahe actually lived on the small Island of Hven back in the late 1500s! Clearly the Spirit of Hven distillers are greatly inspired by astronomy...
Caramelised apple and poached pear. Generous notes of wood smoke with a very slight touch of coastal air. Richly herbaceous nettle tea. Fresh ginger root.
Cardamom, leafy coriander and sweet cinnamon. Peat warmth not quite as pronounced as it was on the nose. Candied peels bring a subtle touch of sweetness to the mix.
Quite long. Hints of cracked black pepper and orange chocolate.
The description of this describes it perfectly. This was gifted to me…best gift I’ve received in a long time!
Nice flavour, smoky, caramel, dry fruits, slightly citussy, but the flavour is not deep. It lasts just for the sip. It doesn't envelop the mouth and throat, it doesn't engage the nose that much. easy to drink, nothing special.
In life you can only judge things by understanding where a person, an item or in this case a whisky comes from. Show casing a Scotch influence with the use of Peated malt, this whisky shows its own character with the other components of the mash bill (flavoured malts such as chocolate) and its unique maturation program. Indeed to see something that uses neither bourbon or Sherry casks should be celebrated, and really does show what can achieved. If you haven’t tried it, you really should and you will not be disappointed!
Lovely whisky, I'm getting chocolate and banana bread on the nose. Very smooth and a great whisky
This thing packs a punch, the rich smokey taste sticks with you for a long while, really nice acompanied with a mug of coffie, highly recomend this whiskey
