Beinn Dubh (pronounced 'Ben doo' and meaning Black Mountain) is a thick, incredibly dark whisky produced at the Speyside distillery.
Caramel, toasty, soy, walnut and burnt raisins.
Almost like cold coffee with dark brown sugar, vanilla and dried fruit.
Toffee and chocolate malt.
Until recently, Beinn Dubh was one of my favourites, then I took it upon myself to have a tasting alongside a Glenfiddich 15 Old Solero; Glenlivet 18; a Glenmorangie 18 and a Hibiki Master's Select (which you can sadly no longer get). I'm afraid to say this paled next to the others. I can't agree with the tasting notes and felt this was quite grassy with a very earthy nose and wasn't as nearly as pleasant as the others to drink. Still nice on its own, just don't go comparing it...
I bought it when I was on holidays in Aviemore, Scotland. Extraordinary. I'm from Uruguay. Before going to Scotland y didn't like whisky, after Scotland I do. It's a shame I can't buy it here in Uruguay or online. Anyway one of the best I've tasted.
Just got a second bottle, I love it probably because it's a port cask and usually the whiskies I prefer have spent some time in them, however my friend rates it less as he prefers Sherry cask whisky.
This is my favourite of all time. Tastes of chocolate and best drunk when really warm
Christmas cake on the nose and chocolate or perhaps even slight liquorice at the end, it's delightful. Came across this little gem on a trip to Aviemore in 2016. Beautiful part of the world and a lovely drink to match.
