This 10 year old single malt was a gold medal winner at the 2006 San Francisco World Spirits Competition. A classic from the Speyburn distillery.

Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt

    Nose

A fruity nose with hints of orange, mandarin and cooking apple. A touch of oak, peppermint and spice.

    Palate

A light, gentle palate with soft malt, sweet, toasty barley with liquorice and dried herbs.

    Finish

Just a touch of smoke trails off on the finish.

    Mellow vanilla

A mellow whisky- dusty vanilla notes and an oaky additional toasted vanilla and honey nose. It's very nice. Not like any other 10 yr I've tried.

    Crisp and nice flavor

Crisp and refreshing. Very unique flavor. Nice finish. Would definitely recommend it.

    Pure Gold

I don't equate money with value in whisky. Big dollars do not always equate to big flavor. Whatever its current market price, Speyburn 10 is a satisfying dram. Though younger than Glenfiddich 12, its increased ABV makes it not only comparable but in many ways superior. The noses and tastes are remarkably similar, and if that G12 lingers on the tongue longer, the delivery of the S10 more than compensates. And though it doesn't linger as long as G12, its added heat and youth are playfully and present after the swallow. Speyburn 10 is a clean, cut grass, best-of-Speyside sipper. Don't mix this one, folks, and don't add too much water. A wee spoonful will do, even a wee part of a spoonful. Too much water mutes its best qualities. And to the official reviewer above, sip again, my friend--there's no smoke here, not even a hint.

    great value

I paid 23 dollars. For the price it's damned good. It's no Macallum but again...it's great for the price and im no connoisseur....

    Shocked

Didn't care much for the blended Speyburn, but this. This is outstanding - esp for the money. Typically drink Laphroaig 10 and Glenlivet 12. This reminds me of Glenlivet 12 a bit. Intense at first but smooth and pleasant aftertaste.
