    Nose

A fruity nose with hints of orange, mandarin and cooking apple. A touch of oak, peppermint and spice.

    Palate

A light, gentle palate with soft malt, sweet, toasty barley with liquorice and dried herbs.

    Finish

Just a touch of smoke trails off on the finish.

10/10 with price in mind, 8/10 with age in mind

This is my hands down favorite find at Safeway Grocery. It's usually on sale for about $22 a bottle and at that price it's almost impossible to beat. $22 is competing with Dewar's white label or Johnny red, and although I enjoy both those, I much prefer a Dram of Speyburn. I enjoy this just as much as Glenfiddich or Glenlivet 12, maybe more so, or at least as a change up for daily drams . If you like Speyside scotch, I think you'll find this to be a hidden gem that if blind taste tested, you'd likely rate alongside the famous Glenn's. If you prefer Highlands with a wisp of smoke, you might find the Speyburn a bit sweet. If you prefer Islay peat.....what are you doing looking at whiskey from the highlands?

    Good value, nice novice taste.

Fruity (apples & pears) vanilla, lightly woody. Nothing overpowering or overly impressive, but its a nice, mellow Speyside. Could also serve to bring wine drinkers to the Scotch side. Great price.

burn at first, too young, needs aging

The initial burn is a dead giveaway that it hasn't been properly aged. 10 years isn't enough? Why is this? It must be something to do with either ingredients, or quality control. Either way, Speyburn are sloppy.

    Best value

A light gold color, not much coloring in this juice. Taste is floral, honey, cream , fruity, a whiff of peatiness at the end. Finish is long and malty. A very well balanced dram for a reasonable price, a rare thing in scotch unfortunately. Some of these low scores are either because of bad bottles or people who dont know good whisky. I've made this my go to drink.
