This 10 year old single malt was a gold medal winner at the 2006 San Francisco World Spirits Competition. A classic from the Speyburn distillery.
A fruity nose with hints of orange, mandarin and cooking apple. A touch of oak, peppermint and spice.
A light, gentle palate with soft malt, sweet, toasty barley with liquorice and dried herbs.
Just a touch of smoke trails off on the finish.
I bought a bottle this evening, just drunk my first dram: the 10 y/o is very easy on the palate, notes of toasted buttery cream, with a smooth finish which I prefer in my Whisky. Love it and remarkably impressed because I typically do not like Scotch aged in bourbon casks.
Gives you a headache after more than a couple of drams, it’s ok, not awful but there’s better for the £25-30 mark.
Not bad for under £25. Quite complex for its age but the finish is reminiscent of the smell of a hospital
This stuff surprised me its rather good...and damn cheap too. always nice. Its a gentle malt with a predominantly sweet profile but a little salt and peat which is nice. I will buy it again
Nice light aroma daffodils and buttercups, very minor alcohol burn. Buttery sweat shortbread back of the tongue bistcuitness. Drank half a bottle in one session without realising. A good whisky.
