This 10 year old single malt was a gold medal winner at the 2006 San Francisco World Spirits Competition. A classic from the Speyburn distillery.
A fruity nose with hints of orange, mandarin and cooking apple. A touch of oak, peppermint and spice.
A light, gentle palate with soft malt, sweet, toasty barley with liquorice and dried herbs.
Just a touch of smoke trails off on the finish.
At first this Whisky grabbed my attention being 10 years old. However when tasted, it reminded me of paint thinner? Also why the added artificial color.?
Love it! Amazing flavours at this price, incredible value for money!
easy sipping, uncomplicated, mild flavoured, perfectly enjoyable after a busy day doing whatever. if youre looking for something to blow steam out of your ears or help you contemplate the meaning of life this isnt it
You look at the box and you look and the bottle and you know what it tastes like. I drink scotch straight. I’ve had plenty 18yr that burn more. I’ve had undated burn less. It was cheap (and I just spent a small fortune in Scotland buying scotch and didn’t want to drink the good stuff after some guy time beers) and enjoyable. If you want scotch for friends and don’t want to be shelling out coin for it, put it in a crystal for the gang. You shouldn’t thing 30$ scotch will light your life on fire. But this isn’t gasoline. It’s just good enough for more than you should drink on a non-special occasion. It should also be on the shelf. Think Glenmorangie 10. That didn’t light my fire but I’d probably buy it again.
I gave this 1 star only because people put effort into making it. This is not a good scotch. The taste is not complex or layered in any way. It is not smooth in anyway. Broken glass is smoother. It starts harsh and finishes harsh. It burned so much on the way down that it actually gave me heartburn, and I drink Jack Daniel's. Speyburn should be required to stop selling their 10 year for anything other than removing paint or degreasing engines. I am blown away that anyone would rate this as a 3 star Scotch so clearly the 4+ star ratings are done by the employees and their families. Do. Not. Buy. This.
