Slane Castle is one of Ireland’s most famous locations, known for its rich history and huge gigs featuring some of the biggest musical acts of all time, such as The Rolling Stones, Madonna, Queen, U2, Bob Dylan, and David Bowie. The site just outside Dublin is also home to a distillery, where the family of the castle’s owner Earl of Mountcharles makes Slane Irish Whiskey. This triple distilled blend of single malt and single grain whiskeys which are divided and matured in no less than three casks: virgin oak casks, seasoned casks (which previously contained Tennessee whiskey and bourbon), and oloroso sherry casks. These individual blends are then married together before being bottled, with that mellow, sweet, and approachable profile so often associated with Irish whiskey.
Sweet oak and toasted barley at first, with layers of caramel and ginger developing later on.
Victoria Sponge Cake with plenty of jam and cream in the middle. A touch of butterscotch.
More toasty notes linger on the finish.

I am not a single malt person, and previously my favorite was Ballantines blended Scotch. While in Ireland at a pub, I had a taste of Slane from a friendly guy at our booth. On the way home, I spotted it at the Dublin airport, but I passed it up. It was not easy to find over here in WA state, but I found it in Oregon. I drink it neat with just a dash of water.
Decent drop, but for the price it’s pretty damn good. Excellent even. Exit stage left
Good whisky for the price got this for Xmas smooth great taste usually drink black bush will get another for the cabinet
Wonderful whiskey at an unbelievable price !
Tried this for a change from my usual malt whisky. I've had some bottles of Irish whiskey before - Redbreast, Bushmills, Jamesons Crested and the like - but this was my first Slane. To be honest, it was a bit of a disappointment in that it was a bit rough and lacking in any real flavour. So, not for me and not to be bought again but, as I always say, each to their own.
