Slane Castle is one of Ireland’s most famous locations, known for its rich history and huge gigs featuring some of the biggest musical acts of all time, such as The Rolling Stones, Madonna, Queen, U2, Bob Dylan, and David Bowie. The site just outside Dublin is also home to a distillery, where the family of the castle’s owner Earl of Mountcharles makes Slane Irish Whiskey. This triple distilled blend of single malt and single grain whiskeys which are divided and matured in no less than three casks: virgin oak casks, seasoned casks (which previously contained Tennessee whiskey and bourbon), and oloroso sherry casks. These individual blends are then married together before being bottled, with that mellow, sweet, and approachable profile so often associated with Irish whiskey.
Sweet oak and toasted barley at first, with layers of caramel and ginger developing later on.
Victoria Sponge Cake with plenty of jam and cream in the middle. A touch of butterscotch.
More toasty notes linger on the finish.

Is it complex on the nose and palate? No. Does it have a long aftertaste with multiple notes? No. Is it very smooth, slightly sweet to the taste and not so heavy on the alcohol that it leaves an unpleasant afterburn thus making it a relatively pleasant drinking experience? Yes. One for when you just want to drink a whiskey and simply enjoy the moment.
fairly smooth with a dash of water. has just a touch of after fire which is concerning for longevity drinking. a good single malt rarely shows this. so some caramel, a little spice, a touch of sweet cake; madeira i think.. shortish finish then a gut burn kicks in.. not bad but its not going to get into my regular drinks
Beautifully smooth; complex flavours on sipping, and then a lovely, lingering after taste. Could tempt me away from Chivas Regal 13 year old.
Delicious Irish whiskey . TToo morish
Gorgeous straight... really nice taste.
