Slane Castle is one of Ireland’s most famous locations, known for its rich history and huge gigs featuring some of the biggest musical acts of all time, such as The Rolling Stones, Madonna, Queen, U2, Bob Dylan, and David Bowie. The site just outside Dublin is also home to a distillery, where the family of the castle’s owner Earl of Mountcharles makes Slane Irish Whiskey. This triple distilled blend of single malt and single grain whiskeys which are divided and matured in no less than three casks: virgin oak casks, seasoned casks (which previously contained Tennessee whiskey and bourbon), and oloroso sherry casks. These individual blends are then married together before being bottled, with that mellow, sweet, and approachable profile so often associated with Irish whiskey.
Sweet oak and toasted barley at first, with layers of caramel and ginger developing later on.
Victoria Sponge Cake with plenty of jam and cream in the middle. A touch of butterscotch.
More toasty notes linger on the finish.

Smooth and great taste
Very easy to drink casually not overly complex very smooth with no burn, sweet sherry, almonds, coconut and a stab of ginger on the finish. Mine came with a "rocks" glass. To put ice on this would be a travesty. Very nice for not much. Would buy again.
A decent, safe, easy to drink middle of the road Irish whiskey, priced about right at £25. I'm in agreement with most of the 3-4 star reviews, and think most of the 5 star ones are a bit crackers. But, you know, there's a whiskey out there for everyone and for some this is obviously it. I doubt I'd buy it again though, for me its not that noteworthy.
N: Sherried sweetness, hint hazelnut. P: Light weight. Cloves and lemon. Hint of almond. A: Feels like resting by the Xmas fire.
Is it complex on the nose and palate? No. Does it have a long aftertaste with multiple notes? No. Is it very smooth, slightly sweet to the taste and not so heavy on the alcohol that it leaves an unpleasant afterburn thus making it a relatively pleasant drinking experience? Yes. One for when you just want to drink a whiskey and simply enjoy the moment.
