A splendid blended malt, Sheep Dip is comprised of over a dozen Scotch single malts that have been matured for at least five years in a variety of first-fill sherry, first-fill bourbon, and refill oak casks. Great retro packaging too. The only thing is, the picture of the sheep on the bottle doesn't actually look like a sheep, it actually looks like an angry spaniel with horns.
Fragrant with notes of the coast, tangy, malty, honey, toffee. Youthful.
Rich, warming, malty, young and spirity.
Punchy, tangy.
Quite a surprise. I noticed the unusual name and had to give it a go (for my Irish friend from the UK). I found it quit pleasant and more complex than I was expecting. It is very smooth and has a slight banana essence to the nose with a pleasant smokey follow through that lingers. I like it.
Two bottles down. Love this whiskey.
I was very pleased with this whisky, especially for the price; smooth and surprisingly complex. Maybe some more sophisticated tasters disagree, but I can't find anything to not like.
Alcoholic here. But I'm functioning enough to keep a solid job that makes me enough money to buy mid-range booze. Many of you can relate--I know it... So this is where Sheep Dip comes into the picture. I'm sipping it now (hence the ridiculousness of my wording) and it's VERY tasty (at least to this 35 year old palette). And if you're like me, and roll your eyes at the pretentiousness of many of these reviews, you'll like it. Smokey and smooth and like licking a campfire.
The aroma is dominated by banana unless you get a deep nose, then the smokiness come to the front. The taste is actually a bit too smokey for me, but the buzz is top notch.
