Seven Islands
Seven Islands is a very interesting whisky which was made by BenRiach although the brand is owned by Indian company Tilaknagar. A fusion of Indian design and Scottish spirit.
Florentines become acacia honey and allspice. Stone fruit too, with gingerbread and golden syrup.
Lemon zest and honey. Spongecake, golden syrup and spicy oak.
Toasted, spiced finish.
Quite a sweet but undoubtedly luxurious single malt.
Acquired a bottle recently in the secondary auction market, big hit of honey, slight spicy notes, it appreciates a small amount of water to open it up. Definite toffee on the nose and palate, slight oakiness, longer than average finish, I'm definitely looking out for another to buy.
I found the Seven Islands Vintage to be a very smooth whisky that is a great addition to my bar for those days when I don't fancy something heavy as some of the peated whiskies. The ladies in our group enjoyed this drink too (not a lot of them like the heavier Single Malts) and none of us had a hangover the next day, even though the whisky flowed all evening (bonus points)! Highly recommended if you are a connoisseur.
I didn't detect much of a nose, but the taste of this spirit is wonderful. I detected cake, honey, toffee, some mild spices. Complex. Smooth. Great.
Off the nose, I get the allspice and the honey, can't detect the fruit. On the palate, the lemon and the honey reveal themselves early, followed by chewy cereal, oak. Ending with mild spices. The dram finishes easily, smoothly. This is fantastic stuff. I got the sample, but I'm sure to purchase a bottle.
