This right here is a 10-year-old single malt from an undisclosed distillery on Islay, with 25% of it having been finished in first-fill oloroso sherry casks, and bestowed the decidedly descriptive name Seaweed & Aeons & Digging & Fire. If those four words (and three ampersands) aren't quite enough of an explanation of what this expression is all about, here are a few more: stripped-back, smoky, complex, a bit sherried, balanced, coastal. Yeah, that should do it. Great for people who love uncompromising Islay whisky and sans-serif fonts.
Rich, powerful sherry with a well-integrated core of peat. Solid.
Well-balanced but extremely forceful on delivery. The sherry makes itself known in a really good way.
Red apple sweetness gives way to oaken-vanilla goodness and fades elegantly into the embers of a chargrilled well-aged steak.
A thoroughly impressive dram. One would be forgiven for mistaking it for an OB with another 5 years of age on it.

I fell for the hype of this brand like many others before me. It's far too medicinal for me. The aroma is so pungent, even when you aren't drinking it, I could smell it from my wife's glass. I can understand that some of the flavours are certainly interesting. The sherry notes and the peatiness coming through give it a unique taste. But I was expecting more balance and the seaweed was non existent. Perhaps with a cube or two of ice, this might be drinkable. Otherwise I would recommend avoiding this cleverly marketed but far too obstreperously flavoured dram.
A really interesting and quite complex dram. The sherry is quite subtle but adds a new dimension. Don’t get the rough finish others have found, I love it
Before I start I would like to say that I enjoy Islay whiskies and have tried plenty an enjoyed the vast majority. So, I tried this out of curiosity and after tasting it twice I have now given it away. I don't get any of the label flavours or aromas only the sterile antiseptic hospital corridor aroma. No seaweed or saltiness at all. The fire in the finish can best be described as chemically derived. I like the taste of chili but not as a finish in my whisky. There is nothing about this whisky which would cause me to even accept a dram of it. There is most likely a very good reason for the lack of a name of distillery on this whisky.
I'm really enjoying this; so many flavours!
Really unexpected. Peaty with rich sherry. A long finish of lapsang souchong. I love it!
