Glenfiddich Rich Oak Bottling Note

A recent release edition from Glenfiddich, this was aged for 14 years before a finish in new American and Spanish oak casks. They say the American oak adds spice, vanilla and fruit, and the Spanish oak brings elegant fruit, spice and complexity.

Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt

Nose: Lots of oak influence. Very fruity, nutmeg, cinnamon, bourbon, fruits, dates.

Palate: Bourbon sweetness, with lots of general fruitiness, sublimely smooth.

Finish: Nutty and of good length, toasty, hints of char, fruity.

Glenfiddich Rich Oak Reviews

It doesn't upset me but doesn't massively inspire me either...

It's very decent. Not an essential re buy though.

Glenfiddich 14 RICH OAK

I had the Glenfiddich XX , I liked it ,i just got a bottle of Glenfiddich 14 like it a lot , first taste i got in my mouth is the oak then fruity , smooth good aftertaste, if they keep producing each batch must be in new oak cask each times...a must.

Mountain Man

Don't get me wrong I love the 15 year old Solera, I even prefer it to the almost too subtle 18 year Small Batch release, but this 14 year is a beast unto it's own.
A bit less complex than the 15 year, but I have had 3 bottles of this and it's consistent smooth and delicious.
Also a great offering for newbies or non scotch drinkers! 4.5/5

Decently complex and medium bodied for a 40% OB

Very much a nice bourbon Cask whisky. Nice well composed mix of fruit, oak and spice but I'd still take Auchentoshan 12 over this in terms of price. Definitely worth a try if you want something that's a step up from the 12 Year Old.

A "rich oak" flavor.

Very well made, packed full of oak flavor. Tried this as a dram first of all, then got the bottle, i did not regret it.

Bad taste for me.

Just a powerful taste of alcohol.

Great choice as aperitif

Ridiculously smooth and powerful taste with a long, sweet aftertaste. Just barely a touch of smoke should make this one appeal to a wide variety of people, not the least newcomers.

Another good dram from Glenfiddich

Just returned from Scotland where we visited the Glenfiddich distillery - had the chance to try the 14 year old Rich Oak (among others) - perhaps it was the whole atmosphere of being right where it was produced but both my wife and I enjoyed it to the point we picked up a bottle - We still like the 15 year Solera Vat better but enjoyed the Rich Oak - I personally did not find the oak overpowering as I do in some "Oak only" finished Single Malts - the reviews I've read vary greatly which just again proves - we all have different tastes but can agree that there is nothing better than a nice dram of your favourite Scotch whatever that dram is
