If you're a fan of straight rye whiskey, then you'll want to check out Sazerac Straight Rye. This delicious whiskey is made with rye grain and distilled in Kentucky. It's then aged for a minimum of two years in new, charred oak barrels.
Sazerac Straight Rye is named for the Sazerac Coffee House in New Orleans, birthplace of the famous – and sublime – Sazerac cocktail. The Coffee House was acquired by Thomas H Handy, owner also of Peychaud’s Bitters. Originally, he sold bottles of the Sazerac cocktail, which was originally made with Cognac. Today, this glorious libation is produced at the Buffalo Trace distillery.
Sweet with spices and stem ginger in syrup. Orange zest, freshly ground black pepper and mixed peels.
Thick, spicy palate with notes of Seville orange marmalade and allspice. Peanut butter, toffee and barrel char develop later on.
An oily, spicy finish.
I was recommended this whiskey by a few friends. I normally drink bourbon but I normally enjoy all whiskey types and price ranges. This whiskey was almost unbearable to me. It fell flat and tasted like corn.
It is the best rye whiskey I have had for old fashions.
Awesome rye , live in the land of Alberta premium , but this one stands out there with the best . I have ordered 1 more bottle . only 11 bottles left in BRITISH COLUMBIA .
been through dozens of Bourbons/ryes on the hunt for the perfect rich smooth nectar..this is it. There aren't many that you could glug from the bottle "cowboy" style without a small wince.. but this is so smooth... caramel, orange spice, malt (i know its a rye!).. just a perfect whisky for the price..My favorite Buffalo Trace product ...(and i know all the Winkles)...DO NOT use as a mixer...neat or with a splash is the way
I was hoping for some trickle down of the genius that is the Jim Murray whisky of the year; which is one of the most intense taste sensations I have experienced. This is really just very disappointing- it bears no relation to that illustrious drink. Its not bad, it just really offers no reason to invest the time or the money to get to know it, Bland. Huge disappointment, and a lot of money for a cocktail ingredient.
