Sanmi-Ittai Single Cask Batch No. 9585
The Hanyu Distillery opened in 1941 but sadly closed its doors in 2000, meaning that casks from the Japanese distillery remain are a rarity. One of the few remaining casks has been used as a base for this blended malt, dubbed Sanmi-Ittai, which combines Hanyu malt whisky with carefully selected malts. Sanmi-Ittai means Trinitas in Latin, which also means Trinity in English, chosen as a tribute to the three founders of Hanyu.
Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt
Nose
Delicate and fresh, aromas of sweet, floral malt, fresh pancakes and maple syrup, damp oak and a floral bouquet.
Palate
A good helping of toasted malt, sultana and a creamy vanilla note with apple juice and a pinch of tobacco.
Finish
Cloudy honey on the finish, with toasted cashew and dried apple.
