Sanmi-Ittai, meaning Trinitas in Latin, which means Trinity in English, is a tribute to the three founders of the Hanyu Distillery which was built in 1941, though sadly was forced to close in 2000. With few remaining whisky casks left from Hanyu, one has been used as a base for Sanmi-Ittai, a blended malt expression. Hanyu single malt has been married with other selected malts for batch No. 9586, and has been bottled at 57.6% ABV.
Sweet tropical fruit, banana, pineapple, fresh malt, spicy oak, fresh grass and floral honey.
More fruit, but this time lots of ripe apple and pear, with a runny honey, oily malt and walnut, with earthy vanilla pod in tow.
Floral barley and sugary malted cereal lingers.
