An absolute gem of a whisky, the 21 year old Royal Salute Signature Blend is a sophisticated expression. It's aged for a minimum of 21 years in honour of the 21 Gun Salute that is fired at the Tower of London for Royal celebration. The whisky is presented in a classic blue Wade ceramic decanter.
Powerful aromas of sweet pears and citrus fruits are balanced with the full fragrance of summer flowers. Elegant aromas of sweet vanilla and a dry oakiness are enhanced with subtle notes of sherry and smoke.
The first sip releases sumptuous sweet orange marmalade flavours infused with fresh pears that burst across the tongue.The second brings a rich medley of spices and a nuttiness of hazelnuts that have an intensity before finally releasing a warmth with hints of smoke.

Cracked this for our 21st Anniversary. and im partial to Islay Peaty Smoke & Skye Pepper. But the gold ambrosia from this deep emerald flagon is to savored sip by precious sip. While im not one for tasting notes such as "wafts of freshly cut dew- kissed grass on a brisk Wednesday morning" this whiksy does have a great sweet nose, tasty mouth watering goodness followed by long lingering finish.to my palate its better than a JW Blue but falls short of the Red Breast 21.But up there with the best
Tasted in conjunction with JW Blue and Wildmoor 23yo by Wm Grants - Royal Salute was totally outperformed having little age showing, thin, dry and no finish very disappointing
I only got a wee dram bottle as a taster, I really liked it neat but I did add a drop of water on my second sip and it opened it up beautifully. I'm not good at tasting notes and nose but I will say that I will treat myself a bottle for sure
Would be better if it was higher strength and unchillfiltered but I can't complain I got a bottle of this for nothing from my parents, it has decent cask maturation and a large amount of single malts in the blend but I don't think I would pay the full price.
Like a previous reviewer, I was also given this by someone unaware of its provenance and, like another reviewer, had to decant it because the cork crumbled! I am not an expert, but I found it to be of excellent quality, very smooth (too easy to drink actually!) and a wonderful flavour. In my ignorance I had always believed single malts to be superior to blended whisky, but this one shows how wrong you can be.
