A Royal Brackla bottled for Murray McDavid. The casks were specially selected by Jim McEwan, Master Distiller at Bruichladdich. This was distilled at Brackla in 1994, matured in bourbon barrels, and then finished (or ACE'd should we say) in Clos Uroulat sweet Jurançon wine casks before bottling at the Bruichladdich distillery in 2008. A release of 1,500 bottles.
Kicks off with notes of figs, dates, nutmeg, cinnamon, then whiffs of warm honey and hot buttered bread, tropical fruits and orange rind.
Very fruity and sweet. Pineapple with Greek yoghurt and honey, limes, butterscotch, maple syrup.
A long, fruity finish, with hints of smoke and iodine lingering, at the same time as sweet yoghurt and peaches.
