Rye is a notoriously difficult grain to distil with, but the trouble is certainly worth it. Reservoir are well-accustomed to that trouble, as their own Reservoir Rye is made with a simple mashbill of 100% rye! They use small casks to mature their spirits, with proffer a greater surface area to distillate ratio. This is spicy, complex and exciting stuff.
Cardamom, clove, a light touch of camphor, burnt sugar and cedar.
A subtle floral hint develops on the palate, but it remains firmly in the 'cooking-spice-and-caramel' camp.
Fizzy oak, strawberry and black pepper.
