The fifth release in Redbreast’s Iberian Series sees its single pot still whiskey finished in Moscatel wine casks from Málaga for 16 months. Sourced from Bodegas Quitapenas, these casks impart a distinctly floral and fruit-driven influence that complements Redbreast’s rich, spiced core beautifully. It is a thoughtful, well-judged finish that expands the distillery’s sherried vocabulary rather than overwhelming it.
Floral notes, zesty fruit, nutmeg and vanilla oak.
Vibrant orchard and tropical fruit, honeycomb, toffee and gentle herbs.
Lingering pot still spice with wine seasoned oak sweetness.

Massive Redbreast fan, try my best to try them all - this one didn't hit me between the eyes like some have in the past, there's more on the nose than most but initially on the palate, the less sherried nature of this iteration leaves you slightly underwhelmed. The second glass however starts to build, this is a subtle Redbreast but there's pleasing notes of Icing sugar & dark fruits just under the surface I can't quite put my finger on. It'll split opinions , this one but for me, it's perhaps not the best of the range but it's a worthy addition to any collection.
