Redbreast is a rich, spicy single pot still Irish whiskey matured exclusively in first-fill Sherry and bourbon casks, and this fantastic 21 year old is no exception. A masterpiece of cask selection and blending, we absolutely love this older expression with its notes of tropical fruit, menthol and a touch of leather alongside all that mouth-filling goodness you find right across the range. Hats off to Billy Leighton and all those at Midleton!
Tropical pineapple (!) and crushed peanuts specifically, a bit like the combo you get on the outside of those soft cheese rings. Rich, rounded, spicy – prunes, quinces, a little deeply caramelised apple.
Mouth-filling and reassuring. A little menthol alongside the expected spiciness and some leather. On the tail there’s a touch of nectarine.
A little tangy fruit gives way to sweet and savoury barley notes.
Tremendous! Intricate and still full of life even though there’s a good proportion of whiskey older than 21 years old in there. Thoroughly enjoyable and one of the very best Irish whiskeys we've ever had the pleasure of tasting.
£28.88 - £454.17
This was long awaited to buy and worth the wait! The RB15 is 5☆ alone but this is seriously impressive. Expensive bit so worth it. Definitely buying another whilst I wait for the RB27 to come back into stock.
I’m generally a bourbon guy… on a trip to Ireland I picked up this bottle at the Jamison distillery… it is simply spectacular. It has quickly become one of my favorite whiskey’s
Best Irish whiskey I've tried. More of a scotch man, but this is good.
This is without doubt the best Irish Whiskey (and indeed World Whiskey) I've tried to date.
If you like the 12 or 15 year old, it just keeps getting better with the 21. The smoothness and depth continues to improve the flavour and complexity of the whiskey the older it gets. Love every drop of this.
