Redbreast is a rich, spicy single pot still Irish whiskey matured exclusively in first-fill Sherry and bourbon casks, and this fantastic 21 year old is no exception. A masterpiece of cask selection and blending, we absolutely love this older expression with its notes of tropical fruit, menthol and a touch of leather alongside all that mouth-filling goodness you find right across the range. Hats off to Billy Leighton and all those at Midleton!
Tropical pineapple (!) and crushed peanuts specifically, a bit like the combo you get on the outside of those soft cheese rings. Rich, rounded, spicy – prunes, quinces, a little deeply caramelised apple.
Mouth-filling and reassuring. A little menthol alongside the expected spiciness and some leather. On the tail there’s a touch of nectarine.
A little tangy fruit gives way to sweet and savoury barley notes.
Tremendous! Intricate and still full of life even though there’s a good proportion of whiskey older than 21 years old in there. Thoroughly enjoyable and one of the very best Irish whiskeys we've ever had the pleasure of tasting.
£34.65 - £545.00
This whisky is amazing! It has a special taste that you can’t find in any other whisky and it is so smooth and tasty. It is quite expensive, but in my opinion it is worth every penny!
Fortunately I only received this as a gift V. disappointing. sharp for a 21 yo, any character destroyed by triple distillation. Save your money and get something like The Arran 10 - a quarter the price with twice the taste.
Very smooth and full of flavor. Notes of sherry, dried fruit, tropical fruit, spices, caramel, vanilla, alongside a nutty and slightly smoky finish like a single malt.
I am not a great scribe
I have been trying the 15yo & 12CS most of the time. Picked up an LMDW 25yo and never opened it having decided to open it for a special occasion. However, recently I picked a bottle of 21yo to drink. It's a wonderful wonderful whisky. Nose: Mango/Pineapple tropical fruits. Hint of sherry. Fruity. Palate: Full. Creamy. Sherry influence. Fruity. Spicy. Complex and layered. Vintage feel of the 21 yr is very ominious. Silky. Velvetty. Finish: Fruity & spicy but definitely the barley/sugar spots in the end. Long. Mouth watering. A stunning whisky !!!! Remarkable. Great whiskky
