Redbreast is a rich, spicy single pot still Irish whiskey matured exclusively in first-fill Sherry and bourbon casks, and this fantastic 21 year old is no exception. A masterpiece of cask selection and blending, we absolutely love this older expression with its notes of tropical fruit, menthol and a touch of leather alongside all that mouth-filling goodness you find right across the range. Tropical pineapple (!) and crushed peanuts specifically, a bit like the combo you get on the outside of those soft cheese rings. Rich, rounded, spicy – prunes, quinces, a little deeply caramelised apple.
Mouth-filling and reassuring. A little menthol alongside the expected spiciness and some leather. On the tail there’s a touch of nectarine.
A little tangy fruit gives way to sweet and savoury barley notes.
Tremendous! Intricate and still full of life even though there’s a good proportion of whiskey older than 21 years old in there. Thoroughly enjoyable and one of the very best Irish whiskeys we've ever had the pleasure of tasting.

A nose full (I started salivating over the nose) and a mouth full! So complex, and the first sip was overwhelming - a spicy resolution ending in...cinnamon? That's what I tasted.
Probably the finest Whisk(e)y in the world!
Nose: White pepper, orange peel, hints of floral, intense, but not harsh Palate: A robust and smooth experience that takes a second to build. The front is delicate with floral notes, followed by a building sweetness dominated by apricot. Earth tones of tobacco and flint play a supporting role. The middle builds to a nice peak that fills the mouth and throat and starts to transition to a white peach finish. Finish: The finish is wonderful and long. Sweet peach fades slowly, but peach and apricot are the last flavors for me. There is a slight medicinal tone in the finish, but it is a nice counterpoint to the sweet fruit. Overall: It is bright and complex. I like experiencing the fruit notes that feel shifted from the normal port and sherry wood finishes. This is a different profile, but on par with any scotch whisky that I have had. I also like that it was bottled at 46%.
Very strong orange pie apple honey flavour. Not overly sweet. Very smooth. Short finish.
