“At £100. I bought a few times then managed to buy at under £80. I've noticed batch numbers does this make a difference . will keep buying but it's so much more intense and well worth it's price.yes I've had a few bottles of Red breast 12 year old and to be honest couldn't understand the hype watched lots of reviews and I was a bit disappointed hence I tried cask strength was definitely not disappointed apsultly worth it's price ”

Nose

Juicy notes of fruit salad lead to sweet, dried stone fruits, with peaches and plump sultanas backed by a touch of candied orange and oaken spice.

Palate

Silky mouthfeel, with layers of stewed, spiced fruits, vanilla cream, custard, and mellow oak.

Finish

Warm oak builds, with baking spices, sherried fruit, and robust barley.

Really great whiskey

Delicious, it has the same fruity and spicy flavours of the 12 year old but more intense and with a longer finish.

RB 12 with knobs on.

Absolutely incredible Irish Whiskey , possibly the Gold Standard at this price point. For me The Spots still have a fair bit of catching up to do. I love all the RB range, however the RB15 and RB12CS are about as far as I can go to, without the mental dilemma of purchasing Whisky above £200 . If I was ever fortunate enough to acquire a RB21 for example I fear it would end up as stored wardrobe princesses. After all, whiskey’s for drinking right? Slainte ? ☘️

More, more, more, how do i like it?

Bang! Hello kitten!! Well this kitty has big teeth and a long sweet bite too, i am so happy i got me one of these after a short while on Reading up on previous releases of this Gem of a Beaut, I am a fan of the Lustau edition and this cask strength is amped up with wacks of pot still fruit and vanilla sherry lingering on the after taste, yep very happy, I am a fan of the Irish pot still and single grain whiskies also American whiskey so its not hard to see this right up there in my top five whiskies I've ever tried. . . Great stuff and please keep the price down on this fine example of Irish Whiskey????

Almost the perfect whiskey.

This seemed to have just ONE review which is a crime against whiskey, as this is one of the very best so I just had to chip in. I find it hard to think that anyone would not like Redbreast (any of the range) but this is single pot still turbocharged. Is it the ultimate expression of the art? for me that's Redbreast 21 but then that's twice the price and more, and it's 46%. Aside from Redbreast special releases and the 21yo, this is the best for your money but the following is growing fast and prices are rising - try it soon before it's over 100 quid a pop.

One of the best whiskeys on the market

A lovely rich golden syrup colour in the glass, this is a wall climber for sure. The initial roll has this clinging to the sides of the Glencairn for dear life. The nose is to die for, it's like getting a huge cuddle of sensational aromas. The typical Redbreast butter shortbread dominates, along with honey, a lovely orange citrus zest, all spice, marzipan and finally - possibly down to the high ABV, a nose cleansing almost menthol like kick at the end. On first taste the sherry cask influence comes to the foreground, the spice hugely intensifies along with dark dried fruit and the citrus mixing with the rich thick honey and butter shortbread again. It's mouth filling, decadent and creamy on the tongue. All these flavours can be individually picked out, nothing feels out of balance, it's expertly crafted to be rounded. The finish is long and a little dry, you move from the fruit, honey and butter to a deep dark chocolate and coffee, the marzipan from the smell has moved to walnut - delightful. Adding a teaspoon of water brings out the sweetness more on the nose, and calms that menthol note right down. The spice also takes a back seat, with the biscuitty, honeycomb and vanilla flavours coming to the front. In the mouth, the addition of the water brings out even more fruit, with the dried fruit moving aside for hints of pineapple chunk sweets and a touch of banana. Without doubt, the best Irish Whiskey I have tasted, and one of the best period. Deserves nothing less than full amarks.
