    Raven Rare

Raven Rare blended Scotch whisky is made in batches of approximately 25,000 bottles from a careful selection of grain and malt whiskies (with a good portion of the malt coming from Glen Moray). We've been trying to think of a good way to work a reference to Edgar Allen Poe in here, but it's surprisingly hard, so we're just going to write Nevermore in bold and call it good.

Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt

    Nose

Vanilla, toffee apple and fried banana, with plenty of nutty malt underneath.

    Palate

Buttered scones, biscuity oak and dried grass combine with peach and fresh grapefruit before a dusting of cinnamon emerges.

    Finish

A herbaceous touch of thyme lingers.

    Nothing special

It’s blend and has no body. It’s soft taste but can’t really smell anything.

    Nice but simple

If you like Johnny Walker Double Black you'll like this. Its a tad more spicier than the Walker but otherwise very similar.

    Very Nice Indeed

This is a really good easy drinking blend. No need for water, ice or a mixer, as there is no sulphur taint to spoil the nose which reminds me of dark fruits/chocolate. On the arrival there is a nice warming mouth prickle and the finish is sweet and of medium length. Very nice indeed..

An excellent 'all-day' choice on a budget

This is, apparently, Pernod-Ricard's attempt at an "all-day" whisky and it's actually surprisingly good for its price range. Probably the only blended whisky I will happily drink neat, it has a strong, fruity nose but boasts a smooth, mellow finish that is more reminiscent of a single malt. This is probably due to the fact that a fair percentage of the blend is indeed single malt from the Glen Moray distillery.
