The Isle of Raasay was honoured with the Distillery of the Year award at the Scottish Whisky Awards in 2022, so the brand released more delicious whisky to celebrate. Give that distillery more awards, we say!
A very interesting single malt Scotch whisky, this 2018 vintage spirit was doubled matured, first in bourbon (Four Roses) American oak barrels, before it was transferred to virgin Colombian oak (Quercus Humboldtii) barrels. It's presented free from chill-filtration and at natural colour at a massive cask strength of 63.5% ABV, with a run of just 9,500 bottles.
Crème brûlée, oak spice, raisins, nutmeg, and a little red chilli earthiness.
Butterscotch, blackberry, gingerbread, chocolate, vanilla, and dried fruit.
Lengthy and punchy.
