Lightly peated single malt whisky from Old Pulteney with subtle smoke, notes of peardrops and spiced apples. This 1989 vintage single malt was bottled in 2015.
This bottle was part of a private collection - if you'd like more detailed photos just get in touch!
Toasted brioche and salted butter at first. Slowly develops notes of fresh doughnuts, sea shells and a drop of candle wax. Give it a few minutes for a wisp of smoke to appear.
Pink peppercorns, oat cakes, yellow plum, honey and leather. Very lightly grassy, and with a subtle touch of black liquorice.
Waxy orange and lime peels, followed by a whisper of vegetal peat.
I was lucky enough to buy three... two have gone and the third is looking at me. It opens up flavours and senses like I've never experienced with a whisky before. Now... where's that last bottle!
NOT USUALLY DRINK PEATED WHISKY BUT THIS WHISKY IS A TOP DRAM
Smooth Salty and fruity mid palate with a great nose. Nice finish. The best single malt scotch ive ever had at this price point. Grab it if you can find it.
Salt, grapefruit without bitterness, honey and green fruit. Subtle and well balanced. Cask influence and wiff of smoke. Talisker without peppery - peppar is there but of course in balance. 91/100.
Lightly peated, well aged, smooth, delicate, fruit and peat. 95/100
