This 17 year old from the Pulteney distillery was a double gold winner at the 2006 San Francisco World Spirits Competition, matured in Spanish Oloroso and Pedro Ximenez casks.

The nose is clean and fresh with great balance. There is a profusion of fruit, from fruit salad with honeydew melon and pear to dried fruits, sultanas in a hot cross bun, fresh from the oven, a lightly salted butter melts over it with notes of fudge and a hint of something vaguely green. There is a lovely creaminess to the nose with notes of soft whirling smoke and crème fraîche. The palate is quite full and very sweet with sugared citrus peels and toffee. There are some notes of beeswax and honeycomb and fudge rises with malted barley and cereal sweetness. The finish is long with a herbal edge and a chewy oak.

This is a fantastic dram and will stand toe to toe and beat some of the best 18 yo drams out there it's clean crisp ozone flavour is a real change from some of the finest spaysiders and I recommend you give this ago because if you haven't tried it before you will be pleasantly surprised and blown away with its complexity and depth and range of flavour!
I thought this whiskey was good, but not great. If you are wondering, Old pulteney 21 is definitely better with a longer finish and more complex body. But if you like a strong taste, this is your drink
Have had quite a few whiskies in my time but this is probably the very best I've ever had. In my book it's better than both the distllery's 21 year old and the Highland Park 18 year old. At £60 a bottle it is a veritable bargain. Buy some but leave some for me!
Arrived home ordered 17 year, best ever. Smooth strong flavors easy drinking. Order this and you never go back to another.
Simply fantastic. Superb bourbon-oak, however apparently it contains some PX casks. Maybe that's what makes it so awesome….
