Proper No. Twelve is a blended Irish whiskey produced with the help of former Bushmills distillery manager David Elder. Featuring malt and grain whiskeys drawn from bourbon barrels, nearly 100 blends were created before deciding upon the one in the bottle.
Vanilla pod, floral barley and a touch of sandalwood.
Orchard fruit and honey notes arrive first, backed up by a kick of white pepper.
Drying oak heat and a drizzle of caramel.

Sad to see this trash is the best selling Irish whiskey, that’s so much money that could have gone to a worthwhile dram but instead just padding out Conors car garage. It’s undeniable swill, a sign of a mans character to let someone sell this in your name. Shameful ethanol based brown stuff
Jamesons is better, so buy that instead
Had i been writing this review after my first sample it would not be flattering. The taste and smell of caramel was overpowering and i had an after taste that i cant describe other than unpleasant. However the following day i thought give it another go and for some reason it tasted better and no unpleasant after taste!!. only difference i added a lot less water than before. actually enjoyed it and would buy again. but if given the option of Jamiesons or this, i think Jamieson would win, just a bit more smoother and subtle taste.
I liked it , as far as the initial taste test goes I like it , but I've not had enough yet to truly judge
I'm no whiskey expert, let's start with that. I drink my fair share of blend and single malt, aswel as bourbon. But almost always have a mixer (ofcourse, a sin in the eyes of a true whiskey drinker) However, I'm sure not everyone looking for a guide on what to buy next is an expert. So here's what an amateur makes of Proper No. Twelve It's smooth, it does down without much bite, making it more-ish and leaving the glass empty sooner than expected. The smooth taste is delivered through a kick of vanilla which is really clear. What follows is a warming and clingy bite that almost opposes it sweet punch. It well rounded and tasty as a MF. I've asked my local to make sure they've got a bottle a week on the shelf for me.
