The Gaelic Whisky Company are renowned for being independent through-and-through and produce whisky for whisky's sake. Rumour has it they are constructing a distillery on the Isle of Skye which will certainly be one to watch! This blend combines peat and brine with some soothing highlights from Speyside.
The aroma amalgamates coastal elements with peat and sherry in a Highland style.
Coffee and salt are very present with a hint of peat and some sweeter notes of caramel in the background.
The finish is hot and spicy and clings on for some time.
This great blended whisky is a challenge and that's a compliment. It forces the drinker to take stock and appreciate its many elements. Superb!
I found this gem of the shelves of one of our local Liquor Control Board of Ontario stores. As the note says on this site it is a complex multi facetted whisky that surprises you when you least expect it. I am getting one for my boss for Christmas (40 CDN is a great price for this whisky) and I trust he will enjoy it. There is a hint of smokiness, enough that I enjoyed it (I like smoky peaty whiskies) but not so much that my wife who doesn't like smokiness too much wouldn't drink it.
Celebrated our 48th wedding anniversary in Cape Breton Island where we first honeymooned. Happened to just pick this up at a small package store ($32?). Read later they send half there production to France and Nova Scotia. Wow! Wish we could get this in the States! Great full-bodied complex blend from a very small independent distiller.
Discovered this 1983 at the bar of Hotel Eilean Larmain on Skye. Quite rare but enjoyed since. Pleasant & not overpowering like the usual suspects.
The best non malt whiskey about so smooth definitely recommend and great price
This is an absolute fantastic whiskey. The first time I tried this I thought, WOW!! Amazing. Better than most 12yr+ single malts. Brilliant
