    Distillery/BrandPort Askaig Whisky

    Port Askaig 100° Proof

Launched in 2015, the Port Askaig 100° Proof is a big, smoky single malt Scotch whisky from an undisclosed Islay distillery. This is bottled at 57.1% ABV - which is 100° Proof in a traditional system of alcohol content measurement (different from 100 proof, which you're much more likely to see on American bottlings).

Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt

    Nose

Earthy smoke rises first, shortly followed by smoked meats, citrus peels and a heaped spoonful of brown sugar.

    Palate

Zesty lemon and lime, paired with ground cumin, Smiths Bacon Fries and a touch of apple juice.

    Finish

    Rather long and enjoyably soot-y.

More flavour profile then I've ever experienced in this price bracket

Initially pears and figs, if diluted slightly then really smooth on the way down with cucumber and tomato ending with meaty peppery notes like pepperoni

    Powerful

It's powerfull alright, and i added a couple of teaspoons of water instead of the usual one. I found that if i let it stand for 10 mins, it opened up and lessened the initial kick, giving a much nicer & smoother experience. Id buy another bottle in time, but theres so many others to try first.

    Helt ok

    Tasty & good value

If you like Islay malts, this is one you simply must try. All the usual suspects are in there, and i just cant quite put my finger on which distilliery it's sourced from, but it stands up well against ardbeg/Lagavulin/Laphroaig anyway. It's strength doesnt overpower it, to the point you only need your usual amount of water to open it up - it's terrific value

    Buy it.

Absolutely sensational, if you like Ardbeg or Lagavulin this is a must buy. What a whisky.
