Launched in 2015, the Port Askaig 100° Proof is a big, smoky single malt Scotch whisky from an undisclosed Islay distillery. This is bottled at 57.1% ABV - which is 100° Proof in a traditional system of alcohol content measurement (different from 100 proof, which you're much more likely to see on American bottlings).
Earthy smoke rises first, shortly followed by smoked meats, citrus peels and a heaped spoonful of brown sugar.
Zesty lemon and lime, paired with ground cumin, Smiths Bacon Fries and a touch of apple juice.
Rather long and enjoyably soot-y.

This is one of the better bottles I have bought as of late this is fantastic. Cask strength, non chill filtered, natural color Islay whisky this is really a thing of beauty. Now I know this is an anonymous bottling but according to my research this actually comes from Caol Ila which is really cool because it is so hard to find any expressions from Caol Ila other than the 12 around here. Once you smell this you know your gonna love it sweet and smoky , young but incredibly smooth this is drinkable neat but a little water really opens it up. I get a good brinyness with smoky bacon, sweet maple syrup, and a glorious peaty/oaky finish. For $75 I am very happy with this this is definitely my kind of Scotch. Cheers! The Sugarbear
Wow, a punch in your face. So many flavours and there's peat I can tell you!
just love it from first moment..
A fantastic whisky and excellent value for money. It is quite strong so a little bit of water helps a lot and really brings out the flavour and smokiness of it more. I would definitely recommend!
Really interesting whisky...initially smooth and easy on the palette, then wow a most intense and sophisticated after taste
