Launched in 2015, the Port Askaig 100° Proof is a big, smoky single malt Scotch whisky from an undisclosed Islay distillery. This is bottled at 57.1% ABV - which is 100° Proof in a traditional system of alcohol content measurement (different from 100 proof, which you're much more likely to see on American bottlings).
Earthy smoke rises first, shortly followed by smoked meats, citrus peels and a heaped spoonful of brown sugar.
Zesty lemon and lime, paired with ground cumin, Smiths Bacon Fries and a touch of apple juice.
Rather long and enjoyably soot-y.

Big sooty, ash, burning embers, smoke and long finish. absolutely delicious! I swear my eyes rolled into the back of my head when I tried this one. If you’re a peat freak you’re gonna love this.
One of my favourites!
What a bottle! If you have a few simple boxes to tick when choosing a bottle for the first time, and if these few details describe some of your search criteria: Smoke ; Layers of meat, complexity and a big hitting cask strength, then you need to buy a bottle. It's awesome plus, excellent value for money too.
Gosh this is right in your face - seems very young and is I think Caol ila though hints of Kilchoman to me. Blow a your head off - 8 troll probably safer bet if you like Caol ila a little tamer
Really quite young and the sweetness on the nose does not follow through. That said if you like a sharp peat hit it will suit.
