A fantastic rye whiskey produced in Kentucky, the Pikesville brand dates back to 1895 in Maryland. This 6 year old 110 proof was released in 2015, receiving a Double Gold at the San Francisco World Spirits Competition, an "Extraordinary, Ultimate Recommendation" from the Ultimate Spirits Challenge and was named the World's Best Rye Whisky at the World Whiskies Awards 2016 - Heaven Hill also won Distiller of the Year at the Icons of Whisky 2016!
Some dusty spice, a touch of Norwegian hand cream and cocoa at first with sweet liquorice, Curaçao, vanilla custard and crème caramel developing.
Fruity, then wonderfully spicy rye. Sweet liquorice again (specifically the coconutty/nougat-y pink Liquorice Allsorts that have a black bit in the middle), plenty of oak and then clove drops on the tail.
Vanilla with cinnamon and apricot Danish.

A high proof rye whiskey with (for me) 0 burn. Pikesville for me joins along with whistle Pig as a rye you can drink, without feeling like you just ran sandpaper down your throat. It was $50 at my local state store (Alabama, ABC store) most definitely worth the money.
Some fool has mentioned this is priced so because of Brexit. But at least as an English person due to Brexit, I now have a job to try and buy it which although due to the remoaner complaining about the price due to the crash in the pound. I was lucky enough to have a job and go abroad to buy this! This is the sort who loves curry but will put their house up for sale as a non white moves in on the lane!
needs more rye in the mash bill for my taste, could be exceptional
After my 1st dram, I had to look twice at the ABV%. I know the estimated mash bill lists its rye content at no more than 60%, lower than most straight Rye Whiskeys. Nonetheless, at 110pf, and after its most pleasant aroma, you still find yourself preparing for a fair amount of forward/mid biting spice with a long burn finish. However, Pikesville 6yr, considered a Maryland style Rye (lower rye bill than Pennsylvania style), offers an equally subtle forward spice and mildly dry, comforting warm finish. Heaven Hill, has produced the most delicious, smoothest, complex flavored yet unassuming, and perfectly balanced Rye I have the pleasure to drink.
Fantastic stuff this is !. I was just a single malt whisky man and old dark rum man and I sent for some samples of another American whiskey and got this stuff as an accident. Luckily enough Master Of Malt let me keep them as a good will gesture and I was totally gob smacked at the depth of flavour of this whiskey. It was probably a slick move on Master Of Malts (JOKING) behalf because I fell in love with this stuff instantly and ended up buying a couple of bottles. A funny turn of events that ACCIDENTALLY got me into this stuff !!! Mad World !!! 5 Stars Easily.
