A triple distilled blended Irish Whiskey produced in Cork and made, unusually, with all three styles of Irish whiskey: single pot still, single malt and grain. First produced in 1779, it wasn't until 1913 that it changed it's name to Paddy after legendary salesman Paddy Flaherty. Before that it had the rather catchy name of "Cork Distilling Company Map of Ireland Old Irish Whiskey". Rolls right off the tongue that one.
The nose is oily and fresh with floral notes, cereal grains and plenty of fruit.
The palate is sweet and of medium-body with toffee and cereals, a rosewater note with a little butterscotch and vanilla.
The finish is spicy and dry with a little black pepper and oak.

Not sure where the floral notes, pepper, smoothness are, et al, that other reviews note. I get slight malt, acetyl alcohol (ala nail varnish remover) along with the noted sweetness. I think that this one is perfect for a mixer or a wee friend to accompany a pint. I used various glasses, Glen Cairn, Snifter, shooter, etc. Same result: Harsh on the nose, very little mouth feel and a curious but short finish. Maybe I just got a bad batch...
I pick up two bottles every time I visit the old sod. Smooth, mild, and feel poor when I am out.
Great Irish whiskey....it has won every whiskey tasting competition with the boys....can't get it in Canada though....please let us know how to get it without having to fly to Ireland
