A triple distilled blended Irish Whiskey produced in Cork and made, unusually, with all three styles of Irish whiskey: single pot still, single malt and grain. First produced in 1779, it wasn't until 1913 that it changed it's name to Paddy after legendary salesman Paddy Flaherty. Before that it had the rather catchy name of "Cork Distilling Company Map of Ireland Old Irish Whiskey". Rolls right off the tongue that one.
The nose is oily and fresh with floral notes, cereal grains and plenty of fruit.
The palate is sweet and of medium-body with toffee and cereals, a rosewater note with a little butterscotch and vanilla.
The finish is spicy and dry with a little black pepper and oak.

I hadn't tried Paddy's since I left England in the 80's. It was very popular then. I saw it in Dan Murphy's in Gosford and was about $39. I thought i'd have a go at it and it was surprisingly good. Not much length on the finish but smooth and no burn. I would definately buy again as a quaffer. A less harsh hangover than Talisker if you over indulge.
Love it and after 200+ years I reckon they know the whiskey business backwards! Good brew and I will put up there with some much more $$$ ones Cheers Paddy!! BB - from the land down unda!!
I found Paddy's very easy to drink. It may lack some of the nuances and sophistication of much more expensive whiskey, but very pleasant and enjoyable especially for the price! A very good product in my humble opinion.
Paddy is a very easy drinking everyday Whiskey. I love high Rye Whiskey but if I am not drinking Rye I drink Paddy. I have a bottle at my house all the time. One of my favorite whiskeys. A smooth easy Whiskey to drink with friends or sitting by the fire. Great value for the price.
