A triple distilled blended Irish Whiskey produced in Cork and made, unusually, with all three styles of Irish whiskey: single pot still, single malt and grain. First produced in 1779, it wasn't until 1913 that it changed it's name to Paddy after legendary salesman Paddy Flaherty. Before that it had the rather catchy name of "Cork Distilling Company Map of Ireland Old Irish Whiskey". Rolls right off the tongue that one.
The nose is oily and fresh with floral notes, cereal grains and plenty of fruit.
The palate is sweet and of medium-body with toffee and cereals, a rosewater note with a little butterscotch and vanilla.
The finish is spicy and dry with a little black pepper and oak.
First drank it in 1972 in County Cork. Recommended by the locals. Superb whiskey and goes down well as a chaser with a pint of Murphy!
Smooth very pleasant price good had good whiskey for the price.a lot smoother than scotch.
A very good no nonsense Irish whiskey. One of the very few whiskies my wife will drink, albeit with ginger ale but whatever! A shame the marketing people inserted the “e” in the name to bring into line with other Irish whiskey brands but thankfully the gargle stays the same. Just one further point for the purist, it was traditionally a glass of Paddy without the possessive apostrophe s.
This is a good, no, really good blended whiskey. Ignore those who want to try to give it the big one with their half-star reviews - in a blind taste, I’m sure they’d struggle to tell the difference between this and a Lost Distillery’s 11. Smooth sweet palate with a spicy, peppery finish. This is a lot of whiskey for your £.
My uncle introduced me to Paddys 30 years ago saying it was the woodbine of Irish Whiskey. I still like it today and he still drinks it in his late 80's...enough said.
