The whisky used for this limited edition 1990 Vintage Old Pulteney was matured in American bourbon casks and Spanish sherry casks, which previously held heavily peated whisky. This maturation has given the single malt Scotch whisky an extra dimension to its flavour profile, with a buoyant smokiness that is seen in lightly peated whiskies.

This whisky is sublime. Beautiful sweetness and complexity of the Old Pulteney 21 with a soft smokey backdrop. A delight!
Perhaps the whisky I value the most in my current stock. I am usually drawn to bottles with liquefied thunderstorm forest fires in them, but this was a blessedly smooth smokeysweet affair. A masterpiece matured to perfection.
But worth every penny. The smokiness really adds to the whisky but doesn't over power. A classic Puteney with an added twist, a must buy.
