Matured in ex-bourbon casks for 12 years, this Old Pulteney malt was a Double Gold winner at the 2006 San Francisco World Spirits Competition.
Crisp and clean. Great balance reveals notes of herbs and grist. Parsley, almond.
Balanced with medium body. Musty, nutty, sultana, toffee, spices. Oak.
Medium, oak, spices.
Delicate smell, felt like a bit of citrus and flowers. Very smooth taste, I like this one.
Just far to much salt. Trying to hard for the maratime connection and tastes like they have actually added salt. This is pure salt!
Great tasting Whisky, always seem to drift back to this 12yr old
Fresh flavour with tones of lemon but a brilliant after taste which lasts in the mouth
This is a whisky I somehow forgot to review the first time I bought it a few years ago so now that I have it once again time to make it official. This is a whisky that is a little rough around the edges but with the perfect amount of water it really shines. It's all about character with this one, initial bourbon oak, with vanilla , a hint of lemon peel, gentle coastal tang, and a slight suggestion of smoke. This is the kind of whisky that is pretty good at a young age but doesn't quite compare to the older expressions from the distillery which are truly exceptional. Little young and rough hence the 7 rating but for the money excellent dram. Glad I got it again. Cheers! The Sugarbear
