A bustling seaside resort has grown up around the distillery in the two centuries since it was first built in the fishing town of Oban. The West Highland malt is still produced in the same unhurried, traditional fashion and this 14 year old is a classic whisky from the distillery.
Smoky, maritime nose with hints of sticking plasters and toffee brittle.
Smoky, creamy palate with notes of marmalade, toffee apples and pear cider. A development of cloves comes late palate.
A long, malty finish with toasty oak and spice.
A true classic, Oban's 14 year old is a great coastal dram for lovers of lightly smoked, fresh malts.

Monkey 47 happens to be my favourite Gin with a Belfast sink! Oban 14 is my delightful sons favourite, so between us we are both happy with the tastes, Master of the Malts service and the pleasure of drinking these smooth drinks.
I’ve seen some reviews saying it’s nondescript, overhyped or lacking in an overwhelming flavour. Granted the price is a little more than your average 14 year scotch. BUT It’s incredibly smooth and has an interesting balance of flavours, there a little bit of everything in there. Which is why in my opinion it’s so good.

Overpriced & over-hyped, not sure which is worse; it's NOT smoky or peaty whatsover, & that's okay, not every Scotch whisky I enjoy has to be. But the price-point is a wee bit high up against other very similar whiskys with very little to show for why it's so much more.
This has always been a favourite of mine, but the recent price hikes frankly make it not worth buying - there's a world of distilleries out there offering whiskies just as high a quality for the same or much less. Sad to say I won't be buying another bottle.
