North British 20 Year Old 1991 Cask 3228 - Single Cask (Master of Malt)

This delicious single cask, single grain whisky was distilled on the 22nd January 1991 and it was aged in first fill bourbon cask 3228 for 20 years before we discovered it and had it bottled on the 14th October 2011. Just like its sister cask, (#3225), this stuff boasts an intense, bourbon-like flavour. A release of 237 bottles, at natural cask strength.

Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt

Nose

A creamy, sweet nose offering up barrel char and vanilla. Aromatic spices, a touch of coffee, treacle and sweet, honeyed cigar leaf notes. After a time in the glass it offers up dried grass and Demerara sugar too, and a tinge of potpourri.

Palate

Great sweetness - creamy porridge oats with plenty of dark brown sugar and cinnamon, as well as a tinge of rye-like spice. It develops with dates, manuka honey on granary toast, and perhaps sweetcorn with salty butter.

Finish

Beautiful length, fading on sweet spices, vanilla, and something reminiscent of a Caffè Nero Amaretto Latte.

Overall

A beautiful whisky with oodles of sweet spices and buttery rum notes.
