Using the two Coffey stills at the Miyagikyo distillery, which were imported from Scotland to Japan in 1963, Nikka have produced a number of single cask single grain whiskies from time to time over the years. This, however, is their larger release of wonderfully exotic grain whisky. Now in a 70cl bottle! Hooray!
Bourbon-like vanilla and corn notes with a herbal hint of chamomile.
Sweet, fruity flavours of melon, grapefruit and thick syrup, balanced by crunchy biscuits and fresh vanilla.
The corn notes, sweet and vibrant, last on the finish.
Fans of grain whisky should be pretty happy with this, as well as bourbon lovers.
$32.65 - $71.97
This was one of the first quality whiskeys I came across early into my journey. Vanilla and rainer cherry compote on the nose. Nice nip on the taste buds with a burst of dried fruit. Lingering sweet finish. Still impressive and favourite to this day.Bought few bottles on special to stock up.
The word Coffey refers to the distilling process. There is coffee or coffee beans used ?
A super smooth and delicious whiskey. You can really smell the coffee but the taste is very subtle, the perfect balance. If you enjoy a coffee, you will love this!
Nose - vanilla, corn, herbal notes Palate - sweet, oaky vanilla, melon Nose - very bourbony It's different from some other Nikka offerings, maybe not as complex as the Yoichi, but in this case "different" is still quite good.
Checkled out my local pub Nags Head Reading. Saw this and as is tradition my friend and and i finish our session with a large Whiskey. This is different from any Whiskey i have tried not that i'm an expert! Very nice indeed. Have just ordered a bottle as result of that tasting session, i have no doubt i will order another.
